         Small exterior and trim changes were the industry norm in the years following World War II. The American can manufacturers were still trying to keep up with the high demand following the lean war years. The economy was booming, and every manufacturer was producing as many cars and trucks as they could. Chevrolet rolled out 671,543 vehicles in 1947, allowing them to reclaim the "USA-1" title from Ford.
         This Chevrolet can definitely be classified as a true survivor. It is the same as it was when it rolled off the assembly line in 1947. The only work done was general maintenance and, as a true testament to the durability of these vehicles, this Fleetmaster is one of the best-running cars we have. In the glove box are a box of fuses and a set of points that were purchased in the late 1940s, and under the hood you can still see "Lubricated 4-22-47," written in chalk.
